For the first post of mine here, I will present a top 5 song of an artist or a band that I like. Today it will be one of my favorite reggae singer : Horace Andy. He born in 1951 in Kingston, Jamaica. His first songs was recorded on Studio One, one the greatest label in Jamaica. You can easy find his classic songs such as « Mr Bassie », « skylarking » , « money money », « you’re my angel » , « problems »… but here are my personal favorites:
1 - Atof Sound System - Horace Andy - Reggae Rhythm - 7inch / Released in 1975 on Concord records.
2 - Horace Andy - If I - Released in 1977 on the album Hungry Town by Hungry Town.
Produced by: Horace Hinds & Everton Da Silva - Engineers: Major Little & Sylvan Morris
3 - " "Ain't No Sunshine " is a cover of the song of Bill Withers, there’s also a famous cover by Micheal Jackson. Horace Andy is a very good artist also for covers, he did very nice versions of « Strange Thing » from John Holt and « Natural Mystic » from Bob Marley | Studio One
4 - " Spying glass " Massive Attack version. The original was released on one of my favorite reggae label Wackie’s. You can also listen to the song « Everyday People » in the early years of digital reggae on the same label (1987).
5- " Cuss Cuss " OBF remix. To end with one song turned on the future, the sound system crew from Geneva, OBF, will release very soon on the french label Patate Records, a remix of the big classic « Cuss Cuss » in a vanguard dub style to drop on a base sound system: Discover it here!
